Hitchcock was asked «What’s the secret to write a good film?». And the master replied: «The secrets are three: the plot, the plot and the plot». The short film Room 101 more or less comes from this suggestion, previewed on Tuesday at cinema Anteo in Milan. It is an idea by Cristina Tardito, designer and soul of the brand, who some months ago contacted Sala Giochi, a Turin-based producer: «I am a bit bored of ordinary fashion shows and I’d like to create a short for my next collection. But not the usual plug including also my creations, I would like to have a history». I am suddenly contacted, I got three proposals and the easier one is chosen: Room 101 was not a walkover, but the other proposals required an Orient Express wagon and a hood in a full-moon night, in brief, things not always available… Cristina aims at an artistic product: if subject and screenplay are assigned to a writer, direction is entrusted to a professional like Nic Bello (Le iene) and soundtrack to Davide Di Leo (Subsonica). Production takes its course: storyboard, casting, selection of partners for the locations (NH Carlina and Bar Cavour in Turin), as well as other two brands interested to make their appearance: Fiat with the new 500 Collection and Cotril for hairstyle and make up. Then, finally, action! The film is set in a luxury hotel and tells about a woman (model Kadriana Kodryanu) who discovers the thousand faces living in each one of us. The film has a noir and intriguing slant, the mood is underlined by photography thanks to Federico Torres, it is oneiric, sensual and elegant. The preview went well. By now, no one has realized the name Room 101 is a quote of 1984 by Orwell. It was the room of tortures…
